Job Title: Medical Biller

Reports to: Billing Manager

Job Purpose:

To gather, verify and input patient insurance information to properly bill and collect all charges incurred by all patients seen at HHMC.

Medical Billers/Medical Collectors

• Verify billing information for electronic claims transmission and hard copy billing (UB-04 and HCFA1500 forms).
• Responsible for the analysis of patient records and determining the legitimacy of treatment, diagnostic testing.
• Process billing and follow-up for third party billing.
• Review remittance advice forms to verify proper reimbursement and to adjust as necessary.
• Post cash, charges, and denials.
• Check to ensure that clinic records for patients include all information required for third party reimbursement.
• Verify correct third-party coding to ensure prompt payment.
• Process monthly A/R reports for management.
• Organize third party correspondence and assist in completing necessary reports.
• Deal with software vendor to troubleshoot simple software/billing problems.
• Attend seminars in and out of town to keep up to date with policy changes.
• Report to management on policy changes.
• Consult with claims processors at third party payor companies regarding disputes/denied claims and follow up on all bills not processed within usual claim period.
• Must work all assigned Work Ques daily.
• Follow-up on patient balances to collect or set up on a payment plan.

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of managed care contracts, legal requirements, and fee schedules may be required.
• Must have knowledge of HMO's, PPO, Medicare, CPSP, FPACT, CHDP, CDP, BCCEDP, and Medicaid.
• Knowledge of computerized billing is required.
• Experience with either HCFA's or UB's.
• Commercial and hospital experience is helpful.
• Must possess knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and OP coding,
• Medical terminology and an understanding of HIPPA privacy laws.
• Must be certified or equivalent combination of education and/or experience to perform all required essential functions for this position.
• Must have EPIC billing knowledge.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $31.00 per hour
